地元の人たちは、フラットなZ2の距離走をしたい時、Delaware and Raritan Canal Pathを走るんだ。距離表示もあるし、余計な心配なしに集中できるからね。Princeton Running Clubには、Harrison Street-Towpath Loopの3.3 milesからMercer Parkルートの21.0 milesまで、いろんなルートがあるよ。Fleet Feet Princetonでは、毎週木曜の夜6:30に店からグループランをやってる。3 milesか5 milesで、ウォーキンググループもあるんだ。Institute Woodsは夏でも日陰が多くて、比較的広いトレイルがあるから走りやすいよ。Mountain LakesとWitherspoon woodsには、アップダウンがあって曲がりくねったsingletrackがあるんだ。Revolutionary Mile、Cerebral Palsy Awareness 5K、Garden of Reflection 5Kとか、地元のレースもカレンダーに入ってるからチェックしてみてね。

D&R Canal towpathは平坦だからbase milesにはいいんだけど、もちろんgravelだよ。Delaware and Raritan Canal Pathは、ずっと行けば60か70 milesくらい走れちゃうよ。Princeton, Trenton, River, & HillsっていうルートはPrincetonから始まって、HamiltonとTrentonを抜けて、Delaware River沿いをNew Hopeまで北上して、LambertvilleとRocky Hillの間にある丘陵地帯を走るんだ。このループは3 kmで、獲得標高は491 m。結構登るでしょ?Sourland Cyclesはいい感じの場所の近くにあって、水曜の夜と金曜の朝には女性向けのライド、火曜と金曜のランチタイムには初心者〜中級者向けのライドをやってるよ。Bikes & Beers Hamilton Townshipは、気軽に楽しめるメインイベントだね。参加しやすいよ。

夏はランナーにはInstitute Woodsがおすすめ。ほとんど日陰だし、towpathが日差しに晒されてきつい時は、みんなそこで安定した距離を稼ぐんだ。秋はLake Carnegie周辺がサイクリングに最高なんだよね。地元の人たちは、Princetonの秋が恋しいってよく言ってるよ。D&R Canal towpathは大雨の後でも走れるけど、泥んこになったり水たまりができたりすることもあるから気をつけてね。冬になると、どちらのスポーツも実用的な距離を走るようになって、長い時間ダラダラするのも減るし、街に近いルートが多くなるかな。Rosedale Lake周辺で舗装路と未舗装路をミックスして走りたい時は、Lawrence Hopewell Trailが便利だよ。Sourland Mountain Preserveは、丘や岩だらけで景色もいいけど、やっぱりタフな選択肢だね。覚悟して行ってね。
