Finishers at the FAAP Fall Classic receive handmade bamboo medals after a trail race or walk based at North Harmar Pavilion in North Park, near Pittsburgh. Runners can choose 5K, 10K, or 20K distances, with staggered morning starts and a field capped at 400 participants. The race runs in early fall, timed for the first fall colors in Western Pennsylvania.
About 95% of the route is on unpaved trails, including a section of the Rachel Carson Trail, and each distance starts and finishes at North Harmar Pavilion. The event has run for almost twenty years and raises money for an orphanage in the Philippines. Top finishers can earn cash prizes, Parent-Child teams have their own awards, and a folk dancing performance closes the day.
