The FAAP Fall Classic is a trail race and walk held in North Park, near Pittsburgh, offering 5K, 10K, and 20K distances. The event limits participation to 400 runners. The course is predominantly off-road, with approximately 95% of the route on unpaved trails. It is scheduled to coincide with the beginning of fall colors in Western Pennsylvania, providing participants with an early-season run through foliage instead of a typical park loop.
The course incorporates a section of the Rachel Carson Trail, establishing a local trail-running identity for the event beyond the park's boundaries. The race has been held for almost twenty years and supports an orphanage in the Philippines. Participants who finish are awarded handmade bamboo medals. Top finishers are eligible for cash prizes, and there are also awards for Parent-Child teams. A folk dancing performance concludes the event, adding a community tradition that distinguishes it from a typical trail race morning.
