Gateway to Space 2027

The Gateway to Space 5K and 10K takes place on March 5 at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The race is held on the Space Florida Launch and Landing Facility, formerly known as the Shuttle Landing Facility. This road race is set within a space program environment, with runners beginning their journey on an active Kennedy Space Center site and potentially encountering shuttle landing markers along the route. An option to participate virtually is available, and the event supports the American Cancer Society through fundraising, which is encouraged but not mandatory. Race day commences at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. Here, participants will park, check in, pass through security, and then take buses to the Launch and Landing Facility. The field comprises 5K runners, 10K runners, individuals participating in fundraising, costume contest participants, and those attracted by the unique opportunity to run in a restricted area. All finishers will receive medals, runners will be given race shirts, top fundraisers will be acknowledged, and awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each category. Each participant is eligible for only one award.
