The Barossa Run begins and ends next to a winery in Lyndoch, located in the center of South Australia’s Barossa wine region. This event offers multiple distances, including 1km and 2.5km options, as well as marathon, 50km, 60km, and 63.3km runs. Consequently, the same event accommodates walkers, short-distance runners, and those aiming for long distances.
The primary route is a 21.1km out-and-back loop on the Barossa Walking Trail, extending to St Hallet’s Winery before returning. Shorter races follow a shortened version of this path, while longer races involve repeating the loop. The course crosses vineyards, with aid stations at the start-finish, approximately 6km into the run, and at the 21.1km turnaround point. Participants receive hydration and sweets, with the main aid station also providing first aid. A practical feature is the straightforward race briefing, delivered with slower speech and simpler language for those seeking clear instructions.
