Newcastle Cross Country: Caves Beach 2026

The Caves Beach run begins in the reserve near the car park by Mawson Close and The Esplanade, launching participants from one of Newcastle Cross Country’s coastal locations. This event is a fixture of the Hunter Region cross-country series, held on Saturday afternoons from April through August. The Caves Beach run offers distances of 2.3 km, 4.7 km, and 10.3 km, starting at 2:00 PM. The longer course incorporates the beach before entering the National Park, providing more variety than a standard park circuit. Club membership is necessary, and participants aged 6 and above are eligible to enter. All runners must select their distance online by the Friday before the race. The event proceeds regardless of weather conditions. A practical local note advises that Swansea Bridge openings can cause traffic delays en route.
