Truth or Consequences hosts a high-desert trail race series in southern New Mexico, located at Rotary Park along the Rio Grande. Participants can select from 50 km, 25 km, and 10 km distances offered in autumn. All races commence with a river crossing on foot. The town, situated at approximately 4,200 feet, offers a hot-spring and arts-town atmosphere, providing the event a setting more akin to a desert outpost than a major urban race.
The course starts with roughly 1.5 miles on a dirt road before entering a sandy, rocky arroyo that ascends 500 feet to the initial aid station. The 10 km race returns from this point, incorporating a single out-and-back segment. The 25 km extends this by including the 8-mile Hidden Valley Loop and an approximate total elevation gain of 1,900 feet. The 50 km continues to a ridgeline, passes the former Blackjack Mine, crosses Hidden Valley three times, and accumulates around 5,200 feet of elevation gain across jeep roads and single-track trails in the Caballo Mountains foothills. Post-race, Rotary Park transforms into a modest festival featuring live music, vendors, a beer garden, and local restaurant fare.
