Trail Liège Métropole fills a weekend in Liège with running, trail running, walking, and youth races instead of one single start line. The program ranges from a 7 km option to Les Ethias 15 km de Liège Métropole, plus 24 km and 45 km trails for runners who want a longer day in the Ardennes around the city. Recent editions have drawn nearly 12,000 participants, making it a mass event, with results and podiums published across several distances and team categories.
The setup is practical and local in feel: bibs can be collected before the weekend or on site, water is provided on the course and at the finish, and finishers receive fruit and cookies. The finish area includes an event village with about fifty tents, where purchases are paid for separately. The organizers no longer hand out a free T-shirt for environmental reasons, but a higher-quality shirt can be chosen as an option. Longer trail logistics are built into the race day, with train travel arranged for the 24 km trail and a reserved bus for the 45 km trail, where the bib also functions as the transport ticket.
