The Angerlauf is a winter road race in the Südcup series, held around the Anger in January with 5 km and 10 km distances. It is a local club event, not a large-scale spectacle, and its recent restart after a six-year hiatus added significance for runners and volunteers.
The course may be affected by snow and ice; organizers inspect it beforehand and advise runners to adjust their pace on slippery surfaces. The race relies on volunteer assistance, and following the 5 km and 10 km races, all participants can enter a Tombola, which has offered prizes such as a golf taster course.
