The Trail du Grand Cabillonum in Saint-Désert is a spring trail-running event in the Côte Chalonnaise, centered on Mont Avril. The primary format is an évolutif trail: each loop covers 7.3 km with 280 m of elevation gain. Participants select one to four loops, with listed race distances extending to 28.2 km. A duo version is also offered, where teams run the loops together. Additionally, there is a non-timed 7.3 km hike and Nordic walk, with an option to complete two loops.
The course crosses natural terrain and includes the ascent of Mont Avril, meaning even the shortest trail option presents a significant climb. The most unique race is the Biathlon découverte: adults and younger participants in the Benjamins and Minimes categories run 2.5 km with 40 m of elevation gain, followed by two shooting stages. A penalty loop is assigned for each missed shot. Aid stations are positioned at each 7.3 km loop marker for the trail races, with distinct support provided for the walks and biathlon. The event attracts a modest local field, with recent finisher numbers typically in the low hundreds.
