The Shinshu Togakushi Trail Run Race begins and ends at Togakushi Ski Resort, located in the Togakushi and Iizuna areas of Nagano City. This mountain trail race takes place within Myoko-Togakushi Renzan National Park, with over 95% of the course on trails, designed with forest conservation as a priority. Participants can select from four distances: 50km Super Long, 34km Long, 16km Middle, and 5km Short. The 34km Long race is an official Skyrunner Japan Series event, and the 5km Short race is open to elementary-school-age runners and older.
The course crosses a region of Togakushi historically shaped by faith, shrine traditions, and mountain asceticism. It passes landmarks like Kagamiike Pond, the path to Togakushi Shrine's inner shrine, Zuishinmon Gate, and Hokosha, and incorporates the Togakushi Ancient Road, recognized as one of Japan's Top 100 Historic Roads. Entry limits are set to manage field sizes: 150 for the 50km, 350 for the 34km, 500 for the 16km, and 200 for the 5km. Upon completion, runners receive Togakushi soba, a regional noodle dish.
