Starting from World Heritage Himeji Castle, this second edition traces the Saigoku Kaido, a primary road during the Edo period, heading towards Korakuen, recognized as one of Japan's three great gardens. It offers a measured, point-to-point journey through an historic travel route rather than a high-energy competition.
The course emphasizes time spent moving: road sections, historical navigation, and the sustained mental effort of continuous progress. At one point, the route deviates from the Saigoku Kaido to allow participants to walk while observing the Seto Inland Sea at dusk, presenting a tranquil segment likely to be remembered post-race.
