PSS Imperial Palace Health Running is a small Tokyo running event based at the Imperial Palace, starting and finishing near the Clock Tower inside Sakuradamon Gate. Everyone starts at 9:00 AM, with individual options at 5 km, 10 km, and 20 km, plus a 20 km relay. The individual races cost 1,000 yen, the relay costs 4,000 yen, and the field is capped at about 100 individual runners and 25 relay teams. It is open to beginners as well as regular runners, and PSS presents it as both a race and a training session rather than a high-pressure road race.
The route uses the familiar Imperial Palace loop, so runners can treat it as controlled pace work, a fitness check, or marathon preparation. The rules are unusually flexible: late arrivals are allowed, same-day entry is accepted, runners can change distance on the day, and stopping early records the distance already run instead of a DNF. The organizer even says a custom distance such as 15 km can be made on the spot, because the aim is for every participant to receive an award certificate. Timing is manual with a stopwatch and printer, and participation gifts include a sports drink, an izakaya meal voucher, and a magnetic chip. The event is cancelled for rain or snow, and cancelled entries are carried forward indefinitely rather than refunded.
