The Tottori Sawayaka Wheelchair & Koyamaike Marathon takes place at Yamata Sports Park Athletics Stadium in Tottori, uniting wheelchair athletes, runners, walkers, and individuals with and without disabilities on the same race day. This series marks its 38th year, with a participant limit of 1,200 on a first-come basis. The event features a wheelchair half marathon, a 10km race, 5km and 3km runs, shorter wheelchair races of 2km and 500m, and a walking event.
The course follows Lake Koyama, closely linking the race to the large lagoon west of Tottori city. A recent event saw 728 participants, with 398 in the 10km and 193 in the 5km, alongside 25 athletes in the wheelchair half marathon. The competitive times are fast: recent victories were recorded at 50:18 for the wheelchair half, 31:31 for the 10km, and 15:44 for the 5km. Wheelchair half marathon participants can view a course explanation video prior to race day. Finishers receive drinks and bread, and most participants are also given a towel and a record certificate. There is no luggage storage or vendor area at the venue.
