The Bergen 5000 Challenge is a 5 km track race held at Fana stadion in Bergen. It consists of 12.5 laps with no elevation changes. Marketed as Bergen’s fast autumn 5000 m event, it features evening racing and distinct recreational and elite categories. The format is straightforward: a flat stadium track, precisely measured laps, and pacers to assist runners in achieving a target time.
The race welcomes beginners, club runners, experienced athletes, friends, families, colleagues, and teams seeking a direct 5000 m challenge. Spectators are admitted without charge, fitting the stadium's design where supporters can view each lap rather than being fixed at a single point on a road course. The inaugural event saw 116 registered participants, including both amateur and elite 5000 m races, alongside a 1000 m children's race. Gneist supplied pacers in all heats to help runners achieve fast times.
