The Anderson 5k Run/Walk is a community 5K at Vandalia Rec Center on Stonequarry Road in Dayton, Ohio, with a morning start and a course that closes after about an hour and a half. It is a run-or-walk event, so it fits runners chasing a placing as well as families and students who want to support the cause.
The race raises money for the Kayla Anderson Scholarship Fund, which gives awards to graduating Vandalia Butler High School seniors. It also honors Sarah and Kayla Anderson, who were killed along with two neighbors in Butler Township, a loss that drew support from Dayton and nearby communities. Awards go to the top overall male and female runners and to age-group winners, while participants receive water, a granola bar, and a chance at door prizes. Dogs are not allowed, and parking is available at the Vandalia Rec Center.
