The Cookie Classic, a family-friendly run and walk in Chesapeake, Virginia, takes place in January to mark the start of Girl Scout cookie season. Beginning at 9 a.m. from 1246 Dismal Swamp Canal Trail, participants can choose from a 1-mile Samoa Stroll, a Trefoil Trek 5K, a Tagalong 10K, a Conquering the Cookie challenge, or a virtual 5K named Do-Si-Don't Show. This event is in its 13th year and benefits the Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast.
The in-person races follow out-and-back courses on the flat asphalt of the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail. This straightforward route suits walkers, families, newer runners, and those aiming for a fast finish. Girl Scout Cookies are available at the finish line, and this event is unique in Hampton Roads for also distributing Girl Scout cookies on the course during the race. The day focuses on Girl Scouts, their families, and those who support the organization's mission to develop girls of courage, confidence, and character.
