Dash for Down Syndrome takes place in August at Snake River Landing in Idaho Falls, supporting the Eastern Idaho Down Syndrome Family Connect community. It includes a timed 10K, a timed 3.21-mile race, and a 1-mile fun run/walk. This variety allows competitive runners, families, walkers, and supporters to participate at a distance suitable for them. The 3.21-mile distance specifically honors Down syndrome, with an extra 21st chromosome.
The event generates funds and awareness for Eastern Idaho Down Syndrome Family Connect. Race day also serves as a public acknowledgment of individuals with Down syndrome and their families. Those with Down syndrome can register without charge, receiving a shirt, engraved medal, and racecourse poster, and are recognized for their achievements during the event. All participants receive finish-line medals, and 10K or 3.21-mile runners may also take part in the fun run.
