The Elevation Run/Walk is an annual summer race morning in Conifer, Colorado, featuring a 10K, a USATF-certified 5K, and a 2 Mile Fun Run. The race begins near West Jeff Elementary, leading participants into the Aspen Park area with an average running elevation of approximately 8,200 feet. This community fundraiser, organized by the Conifer Area Council and Conifer Lobos Unified Boosters, directs funds toward local high school sports, capital improvements at Conifer High School, and public nature trails.
The course combines paved paths, dirt roads, and trail sections, presenting challenges beyond just the mountain altitude. The 10K commences first, with the 5K and fun run starting shortly after. A Conifer Jazzercise warm-up precedes the races. Participants receive a shirt, goodie bag, and post-race food and drink, along with complimentary race photos. Awards are presented on the Elevation Celebration Stage. The race marks the opening of the two-day Conifer Elevation Celebration street fair, which includes live music, local vendors, artisans, and children's activities. The event, which started with 48 runners, now forms the core of a larger community weekend.
