Ferris 50

Ferris 50 is a trail running series held in November in Carson Valley, Nevada, offering races of 50 miles, 50k, and 15k. The 50-mile race begins at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Gardnerville at 6:00 a.m., concluding at TJ’s Corral at Carson Valley Inn in Minden. The 50k starts an hour after the long race, and the 15k commences at 10:00 a.m. This event commemorates George Washington Gale Ferris, the inventor of the Ferris Wheel, who was a former resident of Carson Valley. The course comprises single-track and OHV trails, with minimal pavement, crossing the foothills on the valley's east side and offering views of Carson Valley towards Job’s Peak. The 15k route connects the Fairgrounds with Gardnerville, finishing along the Martin Slough Trail to TJ’s Corral. While major climbs are infrequent, the longer distances challenge runners seeking a significant endurance test, attracting both seasoned ultrarunners and newer trail runners advancing in distance. Participants receive long-sleeve shirts, with 50-mile finishers also earning a buckle. The event concludes with a festival and awards ceremony at TJ’s Corral.
