Goblin Valley Trail Runs take place each November in Goblin Valley State Park, near Green River, Utah. This event is limited to 200 runners, offering 5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon, and relay races on entirely unpaved courses. Participants begin in the early desert morning, with longer races and the relay starting first, followed by the 10K.
The courses traverse single-track trails through land dotted with thousands of hoodoos, the rock formations that lend the park its name. The 5K and 10K routes include sandy washes and varied trail surfaces, while the half marathon is noted as a quicker course with expansive desert vistas. Aid stations operate without cups, providing GU products, fruit, electrolyte drink, and snacks. Elevation Culture organizes the event; finishers get custom medals and soft shirts, top finishers receive handcrafted wooden awards, and the post-race gathering features music, recovery areas, camping, and chili.
