River Bluff Trail Runs is a trail race series at Scotts Bluff National Monument, a National Park Service site west of Gering in western Nebraska. The event takes place within a park featuring over 3,000 acres of overland trail remnants, mixed-grass prairie, badlands, bluffs, and North Platte River habitat.
The course includes two main bluffs, South Bluff and Scotts Bluff, along with named rock outcroppings such as Dome Rock, Crown Rock, Sentinel Rock, Eagle Rock, and Saddle Rock. This location served as a significant landmark for westward travelers on the Oregon Trail, California Trail, Pony Express Trail, and Great Platte River Road. Over a quarter-million emigrants passed this point, and pioneer diaries frequently mentioned it as a trail landmark.
