The Sewanee Slammer begins and ends at the Mountain Goat in Sewanee, Tennessee. Runners head clockwise for 20 miles around the University of the South. This fall trail race utilizes the Perimeter Trail, following the bluffs of the Cumberland Plateau with support from three aid stations.
The loop crosses overlooks, exposed geologic features, lakes, ponds, and upland deciduous forest. The course offers a comprehensive tour of the mountain, distinct from a basic out-and-back. Now in its third year, the event concludes with a post-race gathering at Shenanigans.
