Wolf Creek Wrangle is a September trail run offering 5-mile, 7-mile, and 13.1-mile options, known as the “toughest trail in the west.” It caters to runners and hikers seeking rugged single track over manicured park paths. The race designates its distances the “Jeff Way”: the hard way, the cowboy way.
The course remains intentionally untamed: rockslides are left in place, branches and overgrowth are not cleared, and participants navigate obstacles as they find them. The race notes the possibility of bear sightings and advises participants to anticipate the unpredictable. Finishers receive bragging rights, followed by a post-race gathering featuring beer, food, and music. All proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns and their housing initiatives in Sheridan County, Wyoming.
