Barwon Heads Running Festival

Lahey Square, next to the Barwon Heads Hotel, serves as the center for this first coastal run. All races follow an out-and-back route along Thirteenth Beach Road. The atmosphere reflects a calm Surf Coast morning, not a large-scale event: the running is flat, offering "stunning seaside views" and the "refreshing ocean air" noticeable once the field spreads out and your pace steadies. Barwon Heads Running Festival clearly includes families: parents can run with young children without a separate registration, and all participants receive a "commemorative medal to celebrate their achievement." To maintain simplicity on the course and near the finish, dogs, bikes, scooters, prams, and rollerblades are prohibited.
