Run Like HECS

Run Like HECS is a small Saturday morning race series held in Point Pleasant Park, Halifax, Nova Scotia. The start area is located by the lower parking lot near Black Rock Beach. The program includes a timed 5 km run/walk for adults and untimed children’s events over 400 m and 1 km. Halifax Early Childhood School, a non-profit preschool, organizes the event as a fundraiser to support the school's growth and maintenance. It is designed for families, competitive runners, and individuals of all ages and abilities, and it proceeds regardless of weather. The morning begins with the adult 5 km race. This is followed by the 400 m children’s dash and the 1 km children’s race. Afterward, participants can enjoy a bring-your-own picnic by the ocean. The 5 km race posts results online and awards prizes to the top male and female finishers. The children’s races are more playful: every 400 m participant receives a cookie medal, the top 1 km finishers stand on a podium for cookie medals, and all children are entered into a draw for prizes. Bib pickup is available in advance at the Running Room on Spring Garden Road in Halifax.
