The Blankeneser Heldenlauf is a hilly road race in Hamburg’s Blankenese neighborhood, typically held in late August. Participants can select from 6.8 km, 11 km, and the half marathon. A separate 6.5 km race is available for children and younger runners.
The course crosses the steep side of Hamburg in Blankenese, featuring the Süllberg hill as its primary challenge and approximately 2.5 km along the Elbe river. It also runs near the Leuchtturm Unterfeuer lighthouse, with nearby water, ponds, and green spaces. Known also as the Course des héros de Blankenese, its "hero" theme aligns with the local characterization: participants find it demanding rather than quick. The event ceased for a period due to financial difficulties and the pandemic, subsequently resuming under a new organizing body.
