The Metropol Marathon connects Fürth and Nuremberg, cities within Germany’s Nuremberg Metropolitan Region. Taking place over a Saturday and Sunday, it provides multiple participation options: marathon, half marathon, 10 km, Nordic walking, street run, and other running distances. Fürth regards it as its primary city sports event, with approximately 9,000 participants each year.
The event originated from Fürth’s Metropolmarathon, established in 2007. Its current city-to-city format lends the name a more direct interpretation, as the course links Fürth and Nuremberg instead of remaining within a single municipality. The course direction alternates between editions, with one year running from Fürth to Nuremberg and the following year reversing the direction from Nuremberg to Fürth.
