The Weserbergland Backyard Ultra, organized by RunArtist Holzminden e.V., takes place in the Weserbergland region near Holzminden. Registration opens in May and the race fills quickly; one recent entry period closed early in the morning, with no waiting list and many emails still arriving from runners seeking a spot.
The format is straightforward: each hour, all runners begin the same 6.706 km loop (4.167 miles). Completing the loop within the hour allows a runner to continue; failing to meet the cutoff ends their race. Twenty-four loops equal 100 miles, making the event a test of pacing, fatigue management, perseverance, and direct competition. The event maintains a Hall of Fame for previous WBU achievements, and organizer updates indicate strong local interest.
