Informazioni su questa gara
The Japan Sea Melon Marathon takes place in midsummer Oga, Akita, starting at Tateyama Near Park. Participants can select a half marathon, 10 km, 5 km, 3.3 km, or a 3.3 km pairs race. This variety accommodates serious runners, casual participants, and those running with a partner. The event has a limit of 4,000 runners. A key feature is the local melon theme, with each runner receiving two Wakami Melons as a participation award.
The course follows roads in Wakami, an area known for melon cultivation. Organizers note the route runs under the midsummer sun, with the aroma of melons present. Post-race, participants can enjoy more Wakami Melon, enter a raffle for travel prizes, or visit Oga to see the Namahage, the area's well-known masked folk figures. Shuttle buses will run between Wakami General Gymnasium and Funakoshi Station during the race weekend; however, lodging areas are not served by these buses.
