Hyundai Lisbon Half Marathon
The Hyundai Lisbon Half Marathon begins on the Vasco da Gama Bridge, a detail distinguishing it from most city half marathons. This 21.097 km road race in Lisbon, Portugal, has been held annually in October since 2000, with Hyundai as the title sponsor. The race occurs during the same weekend as the EDP Marathon of Lisbon, forming part of a larger running event rather than being a standalone race. Participation is open to individuals aged 18 and over, with a cap of 11,000 runners and a three-hour time limit. The course proceeds from the bridge into Lisbon, concluding at Praça do Comércio, adjacent to the Tagus River. It attracts both elite international athletes and thousands of recreational participants, and it holds a World Athletics Elite Label. A faster course was implemented in 2010, and the race's finish times have frequently been swift: Titus Ekiru holds the men's course record at 1:00:12, and Peres Jepchirchir's 1:06:54 is the women's record. Mary Keitany contributed to the race's faster period by setting a new women's course record in consecutive years, and Silas Sang achieved a notable record of consistency with three men's wins.
