The Albany IceBreaker Challenge 5K is a Capital District road race held at the Albany Rowing Center Boathouse in the Corning Preserve. Participants run or walk a 5K course as Albany Rowing Center crews compete nearby on the Hudson River. This creates a unique event combining a footrace with a runners-versus-rowers challenge. A Kids Run is also scheduled for the morning, prior to the 5K.
The 5K route utilizes the Corning Preserve Bicycle Path, with rowing shells navigating the adjacent river. This parallel course distinguishes the event from a typical local 5K, as land-based participants race alongside rowers on the same stretch of Albany waterfront. Registration is managed via RunSignup, and packet pickup along with late registration are offered before race day at Common Roots.
