The Barley Chase 2026

The Barley Chase is a USATF-certified 5K and 10K race held in Newport, North Carolina. The race begins at 9:00 a.m. at Shortway Brewing Co. on Chatham Street. This brewery-based road race starts at Shortway, proceeds through the center of Newport, and concludes at the same location. The event offers two distance options for participants seeking a shorter race or a longer morning run. All finishers get a shirt, a medal, and a wristband for free post-run pints at the after party. The brewery is integrated into the race day from beginning to end.
