Fitzy's 5 Fun Run 2026

Park 10 and War Memorial Drive provide a straightforward setting: open parkland, a familiar road, and a simple start-finish area. Fitzy's 5 Fun Run honors David “Fitzy” Fitzsimons, a prominent distance runner of the 1970s, two-time Olympian, national champion, and World Cup medalist. His life was ended by Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. The course begins and ends on War Memorial Drive, characterized as a "fast, picturesque course." This route allows runners to find their rhythm while still acknowledging the event's significance. Athletics SA members will compete for State Championship medals across open, junior, masters, and older age categories, ensuring a competitive field. The run also serves as an official training event for the City-Bay Fun Run, with the stated aim to "honor a legend and support finding a cure."
