The Wild Mersey Mountain Bike Trails are the setting for this self-supported race starting from the trailhead. Runners must carry their own water, safety gear, phone, whistle, thermal layer, bandage, and blanket. It has the feel of a club race with genuine trail demands, the kind where you study the brief, monitor the weather, and select footwear based on the terrain, not for aesthetics.
The course follows public, shared-use trails. Water is available for refills at the marshaled turnaround point, and a tail runner will follow the last participant on the return leg. Participants are responsible for filling their own bottles, carrying all refuse to the finish line, cleaning their shoes at the start line wash station, and remaining "considerate of other trail users." Runners must yield to all mountain bike users encountered on the trail.
