Kingston’s coastal trails begin the Run Tasmania Stage Race with salt air and legs that know there are three more days ahead. The route then proceeds through Southern Tasmania’s most dramatic landscapes: the alpine environment of kunanyi / Mount Wellington, ancient rainforest near Fortescue Bay, and the spectacular clifftop trails of Cape Raoul. This is a new multi-day trail event, but the format originates from those familiar with stage racing.
Expect challenging trails with coastal, alpine, and forested terrain, the kind of running where your shoes and mood shift with each stage. The field is tightly capped, intended for experienced runners and adventurers who wish to explore Tasmania’s wild places on foot without requiring a support crew. The final day along Cape Raoul’s clifftops sounds like the stage you will still be discussing at the post-race gatherings, particularly after several days of discovering Tasmania’s raw natural beauty with a community of fellow adventurers.
