Scenic World anchors the UTA50, with the route using the second half of the longer race through Kedumba Valley. It feels like a first serious ultra: a step up from shorter races, but still on "epic trails" with a strong community. Early on, the clifftops offer views of Mt Solitary and the escarpments, terrain that makes you look up even when your legs are working hard.
The course shifts character: high tracks, Wentworth Falls, then the descent down Kedumba Pass before the return journey. The final challenge comes late, with the "infamous 951 steps" leading to the finish line at Scenic World. Expect many runners testing themselves at ultra distance for the first time, and many who understand why that final climb demands respect.
