The KRC Midsummer 8K begins and ends at Boyce-Gyro Beach in Kelowna, British Columbia, starting at 8:00 AM PDT next to Lake Okanagan. This is a flat, fast 8K road race and a fixture in the Interior Running Association Road Race Series. The event has been a part of Kelowna’s running community for over 30 years, attracting runners of all paces alongside strong front-end competitors.
The course follows an out-and-back route from Boyce-Gyro Beach along Lakeshore Road and paved multi-use paths. It features long, uninterrupted stretches and few intersections, with a turnaround point in City Park before the return to the beach. Results are chip-timed on a certified course. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three men and women, with age-category awards and custom wooden finisher medals. A free Kids’ Race follows the 8K, and proceeds partially support the UBCO Track & Field team. In past years, the race has held higher-level credentials, including BC Athletics Road Running Championship 8K status and a World Athletics ranking-event role.
