Across the Lake Swim Kelowna
The Across the Lake Swim Kelowna challenges swimmers to cross Okanagan Lake. The event takes place in Kelowna, British Columbia, at City Park on Abbott Street. It is a summer open-water swim offering a classic 2.1 km main distance, a shorter 1.5 km option, and a Kids Shore Splash of 25 or 50 metres for children aged 5 to 12 in shallow water. The swim originated in 1949, serving as a rite of passage for local swim clubs and as part of the Kelowna Regatta. Today, it attracts advanced racers, families, friends, youth, seniors, and first-time open-water swimmers. The competitive 2.1 km wave starts earlier as a group and does not permit support paddlers. Registration covers five weeks of Fresh Air Open Water Swim Clinics prior to the event, transport to the start line, an event cap, finish-line food, insurance, and awards.
