Niagara Falls 10k, Half & Marathon
The Niagara Falls 10k, Half & Marathon is an October road-race series in Niagara Falls, Canada. The marathon, first run in 1974 and later joined by shorter race options, was formerly called the Niagara Falls International Marathon. The event now stays entirely on the Canadian side, though it once asked marathoners to bring a passport to the start, as the old route ran from Buffalo, New York, to Niagara Falls, Ontario. The current marathon starts and finishes at Rapidsview Park. Runners follow the Niagara Parkway toward Niagara Falls, turn near Fallsview Casino, continue along the parkway into Chippawa, and then head back to Rapidsview Park. Jesse Kregal founded the original race as the Skylon International Marathon. Its history includes several name changes, a ten-year break, and one edition where runners were led off course. Peter Pfitzinger holds the men’s course record at 2:17:10, and Nicole Stevenson holds the women’s record at 2:37:09.
