The Ipsheimer Weinberglauf is an evening race meeting under the vineyards of Ipsheim, organized by TSV 1910 Ipsheim e.V. The program is built around short, local distances: a student run of about 1.2 km for girls and boys aged 6 to 15, a 2.4 km hobby run, and a main race of about 5.8 km for older youth and adults. There is also a guided Nordic walking tour through the vineyards, so the event is not only for runners chasing a time.
The courses come with maps, descriptions, and elevation profiles, and the routes are marked on the ground with colored arrows and kilometer signs: black for the student run, blue for the hobby run, and red for the main race. The hobby run keeps things simple with one male and one female class and no age-group ranking. The most distinctive extra is the Nordic walking wine tour, which includes a tasting with the Ipsheim Wine Queen. Bibs are picked up in the start area, must be worn on the front of the chest, and every participant receives a functional shirt with their number.
