The Altendorf-Ersdorfer Obstmeilenlauf is a village running event in Altendorf-Ersdorf, held annually on the last Saturday in October since 1995. The name translates to “fruit mile run.” The program includes short children’s races of 400 metres and 1 kilometre, alongside three adult distances: 3.3 miles, 6 miles, and 10 miles. The Laufgemeinschaft des TV Altendorf-Ersdorf organizes the event. The 3.3-mile race is a fun run for all ages, while the 6-mile and 10-mile races feature age-group scoring. The course winds through the fruit orchards surrounding Altendorf-Ersdorf, contributing to the race’s local character beyond its name. Apples are provided at the finish line, and winners receive fruit baskets as prizes. Participants include children, casual runners, club runners, and regular Volkslauf participants. Past editions have seen over 500 starters.
