The Holter Wald Ultra is a 45 km trail ultramarathon in Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock, Germany, for experienced ultrarunners. It is organized by Ulrich Schilder, with online entry via RaceResult and results listed in the German ultrarunning database DUV. The 10 euro fee aligns with the race’s understated character: it is a self-reliant forest ultra, not a large event with crowds and banners.
The route is largely flat, following forest paths through a nature reserve, offering shade when sunny. Runners complete two 19.5 km laps, followed by a final 6 km section with a turnaround at 3 km. The course is intentionally unmarked for environmental reasons, requiring participants to navigate using a watch, Komoot, or similar app. Self-navigation and managing obstacles are integral to the race. Runners pass the start/finish aid station twice, where they can leave personal drinks. Available refreshments include cola, isotonic drink, still mineral water, salt pretzels, and small snacks. The finish reward is a non-alcoholic beer or Radler.
