The Alzenau Triathlon is a sprint triathlon held annually in Alzenau, Lower Franconia, northern Bavaria, typically in mid-September. Organized by LA-Team-Alzenau, it features a 500 m swim, a 22 km bike ride, and a 4.6 km run. The primary event is an individual sprint race for age-group and recreational athletes, with a relay option available for teams covering the same distances.
The race begins at Meerhofsee with a rolling start, where athletes enter the water every three seconds from land. The swim portion utilizes local lakes and ponds, followed by a road cycling leg, and concludes with a road run. Approximately 400 individual participants and 50 relay teams are expected, positioning it as a mid-sized regional event. This year marks the 30th edition, providing a sense of tradition while remaining accessible to newer triathletes seeking a challenging yet manageable race distance.
