The Andreasturm-Challenge is a tower-running race in Hildesheim. Runners aim to ascend the St. Andreas Church tower as quickly as possible. The climb covers 364 steps and 114.5 meters, making it the tallest church tower in Lower Saxony. The event is scheduled for September, with starts organized by age group and in small batches to manage the narrow ascent.
The route ascends through the historic tower, passing the bell frame and the old mechanical clockwork before concluding at the top overlooking the city. Participation is capped at 60 entrants, with all spots taken for the inaugural event. Children aged eight and older may participate, as can adults and seniors who are fit. Prizes are awarded to all participating children and the top three finishers in each age category. The fastest ascent took 1 minute and 50 seconds, indicating the race's intensity.
