The BHTC Moehnesee Triathlon takes place at Möhnesee in North Rhine-Westphalia. Race activities are centered around Körbecke and the lake, near the start line. The event offers individual middle, short, and sprint distance races, along with a sprint relay. The middle distance comprises a 2 km swim, a 70 km bike ride, and a 15 km run. The short distance includes a 1.5 km swim, a 40 km bike ride, and a 10 km run. The sprint distance consists of a 500 m swim, a 20 km bike ride, and a 5 km run, with the relay following the sprint distances.
The bike course utilizes local roads, passing through areas like Delecke, Stockumer Damm, Neuhaus, and St. Meinolf. The run follows the swim and bike segments on the road. Closed roads are incorporated into the traffic management, which is designed for age-group competitors rather than a professional show. Approximately 900 athletes are anticipated across all distances. The sprint and short-distance events typically draw the largest numbers. Demand can be high enough for all disciplines and the relay to sell out, with waitlists also forming.
