Grugalauf Essen 2026

Grugalauf Essen is a running and walking event held within Grugapark Essen, starting and finishing at the Orangerie entrance. Organized by Stiftung Universitätsmedizin Essen, its motto is "Laufend helfen" (running to help), and it benefits seriously ill children receiving treatment at Universitätsmedizin Essen. Participants can choose from afternoon start times and decide the number of 2.5 km laps they wish to complete, rather than adhering to a single fixed distance. The event's structure accommodates mixed groups, including walkers, joggers, casual strollers, company teams, families, and individuals with varying fitness levels, allowing everyone to participate together. Companies can register under their own team names. Younger participants have dedicated Bambini and school races over 0.7 km, with each child receiving a personal certificate. The entry fee for adults includes admission to Grugapark. Participation is free for individuals up to age 18, and runners have the option to purchase an event shirt.
