Lindwurm - Im Auge des Drachen is a running and hiking event held in early spring in Lindlar, North Rhine-Westphalia. The name translates to "In the Eye of the Dragon," and the event's format incorporates this theme. Participants can select routes ranging from a short, hilly 24.5 km course to the full 114.5 km Lindwurm Plus, which includes up to 2,850 meters of elevation gain. Additional options include the 45 km Midi with 1,000 meters of ascent and the 70 km Classic with 1,900 meters, indicating that even the intermediate distances involve significant climbing.
The course consists of distinct "dragon tracks" around Lindlar, with each loop following a unique path. The complete Lindwurm Plus connects all four tracks sequentially: Tabaluga (20 km), Fafnir (38 km), Grizu (24.5 km), and Fuchur (32 km). The Classic route incorporates Fafnir and Fuchur, while the Midi route uses Tabaluga and Grizu. The Mini route exclusively features Grizu. All participants share a common start and finish line, contributing to the event's atmosphere of a continuous day and night cycle where runners and hikers venture into the surrounding dark, cold hills.
