The Marburger Nachtmarathon begins at 7 p.m. from Marburg’s historic market square, sending runners into an evening race through the old university city in central Germany. The main event is the full 42.195 km marathon, with a half marathon and a 4 x 10.5 km relay also offered. The route is flat and officially measured, suiting runners who want steady pacing and teams sharing the distance.
The course starts with a loop through Marburg’s old town, passing narrow alleys, beer gardens, and street cafes before opening onto wider city roads. It then follows cycle paths along the Lahn river, reaches the university stadium area, and crosses the water on the Hirsefeldsteig. Half marathon runners finish after one loop, while marathoners continue into another Lahn valley section. The race is part of the Marburger Ultra-Marathon series.
