The Reischmann Bahnstadtlauf Heidelberg is a summer evening road race held in Heidelberg’s Bahnstadt district, starting and finishing at Gadamerplatz. Participants can choose between 5 km and 10 km races, with separate events for younger runners: 1.1 km for children and 2.2 km for students. This is a local race, not a large city marathon, with a limit of 300 runners for each of the 5 km and 10 km races. The event has taken place annually since 2016 and is organized by Heidelberger Turnverein 1846 e.V. in collaboration with the Bahnstadt district association.
The 5 km race consists of two laps, and the 10 km race has four laps, allowing spectators near the start-finish area to see runners multiple times. Age categories for scoring range from youth divisions up to M/W 80 in the main races, and teams can compete together under a single name for group rankings. The top three male and female finishers in both the 5 km and 10 km races receive prizes, and the largest registered team is given a special award. Public transport is recommended for access: tram lines 22 and 26 stop at Gadamerplatz, which is approximately a five-minute walk from Heidelberg’s main train station.
